This 32-page full colour hardcover book introduces the idea of a water birth at home to the children of a pregnant woman, with the wonderful story of a young boy with a natural curiosity about the arrival of a sibling.

The book is for parents with one or more children planning a water birth at home for the forthcoming birth of their next child. Appropriate for ages 2+: the main character, Oliver, is 4.

The baby was going to be born in water, in a special pool in the kitchen.

"Will the baby know how to swim?" asked Oliver.

"When babies are born in the water, they know how to hold their breath. The baby will not have to swim on his own," said Oliver's daddy.

"That's good," said Oliver. He was relieved. He loved to swim, but he wouldn't want to swim on his own!

About the Author:

Amy Maclean is an Antenatal Teacher with the National Childbirth Trust charity and founded The Good Birth Company in 2003 with the mission to make water birth accessible to all women. She lives in Birmingham, England with her husband and three sons.

About the Illustrator, Jan Nesbitt:

Having gained a degree in Fine Art & Design at Bath Academy of Art, Jan Nesbitt started illustrating children’s books over 20 years ago and has worked for over 30 publishers in the UK. She also creates her own paintings and prints.

Jan teaches correspondence art courses, written by her, and has many students of all ages throughout the world. She has two grown-up sons and a cat and lives with in Somerset.
